Modifying existing satellite ground stations is an important service provided by Applied Telecommunications. When satellite ground station operators wish to offer new broadcast or data services, utilizing their existing antenna and facilities, modifying the satellite ground station electronics becomes a low cost alternative to building a new satellite ground station.

Applied has upgraded satellite ground stations for customers in the USA and International locations. In 1995, Applied upgraded the Etisalat Station in the UAE with 3 Kw C-Band TWTs, automatic level control, and monitoring capability. In Greece, OTE selected Applied to upgrade both their Standard A Station and the Inmarsat Station in Thermopylae. When USSB in Minneapolis required new amplifiers and waveguide network, they selected Applied to perform complete installation and testing.

Upgrades and modifications are important segments of Applied's business. The projects require skill in integrating the old and new facilities, while minimizing system downtime.
